Xeawn’s Gaming Corner Wants You!

As you can no doubt tell, I don’t have a lot of patience for making blurb updates throughout the day. Part of it is that I feel like big name games like Army of 2 don’t really need my help to do well, the other part is, well, I just don’t have the patience for quick updates throughout the day, or the capacity to do so.

When I finally have a chance to compile all the neat-o stuff going on in the world of gaming, such as Oboro Muramasa having a summer release for America and coming in a collectors edition as well as the regular retail release, or concerning bits of info such as Dragon’s Crown not supporting cross-play (which makes me afraid it won’t support cross save anymore either), I find that larger websites that have people on staff to handle various roles have already covered a lot of it.

Lots of times I’ll say “whatevs” and cover it anyways, such as the Nintendo Direct Conferences or the PS4 press conference. Other times I’m like “I sooo don’t have the energy for this!”

My forte lies in the area of game reviews and flavor articles, that’s my bread and butter. As such, Xeawn’s Gaming Corner primarily features those as opposed to new trailers or interesting bits of information (such as Injustice: Gods Among Us getting a playable demo on April 2nd, or the fact that I lost almost all of my considerable interest the moment I saw and heard how Raven is portrayed in this game…). So, what’s the solution?

XEAWN’S GAMING CORNER NEEDS YOU!

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a regular contributor on Xeawn’s Gaming Corner? Think you’ve got the know how, the skill, the focus and the drive to make this site synonymous with names like Joystiq and Siliconera? Think you can handle posting more often than me? Seriously, if you can handle posting more than two or three times every two or three weeks, you’re already on my radar.

There’s just a couple of rules and guidelines for becoming a contributing member of the XGC family:

1) No Foul Language. I’m pretty sure I haven’t used any, and while I probably won’t begrudge you the occasional d*** every now and again, I like to keep this the kind of page most anyone can stumble on and enjoy. That doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to cover games like Silent Hill, Gears of War or Amnesia, but I feel like if you have to resort to cursing and inflammatory statements just to get a laugh, well, your writing could maybe use a little work.

2) No antisemitic posts. I’m not going to begrudge you your faith and belief system, it’s not the role of XGC to convert anyone to Christianity (although if that happens, woo hoo!) With that said, this is a Christian run game site. This means we don’t promote titles like Shin Megami Tensei or Bayonetta. There are some games that we review favorably that more conservative Christians might take issue with. For instance, I love Saints Row 2, Madworld and Persona 4.

With that said, there’s games that push faith boundaries, and games that spit on them (*cough cough* El Shaddai *cough cough*). Case in point, I’ll be reviewing Oboro Muramasa soon, and will be doing so quite favorably. However, XGC will never promote something like, well, the three games I already mentioned.

3) Leave politics off the page. I don’t care about discussing how much republicans/democrats/space aliens suck in the oval office, and this website is not your sounding board for the latest hot topic regarding lifestyle decisions. We’re a gaming website; keep it about gaming.

Those are…honestly the only things I can think of. Pretty simple aside from that; maintain a regular posting schedule, check with me if you’re worried that anything is too questionable, and…yeah. That’s it. Oh, this isn’t a paid position. We’re not that big yet. But, it is fun, and exciting, and if you happen to live in the Anchorage area I’ll bake you a homemade pie from scratch, so, there’s that for incentive.

Alright, if you wanna give it a go, post in the comments below and I’ll connect with you via e-mail. Xeawn, out!
